Anthony Tarter is an Executive Vice President and Director of Agency Workforce Housing & Social Impact for Bellwether Enterprise. In this role he is responsible for direct loan originations through the company’s various debt and equity programs, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, CMBS, and Life Company.
Anthony has more than 17 years of experience in the real estate finance industry, with considerable experience in multifamily agency lending. During his career he has originated over $5 billion in Conventional, Workforce, and Affordable multifamily loans. Additionally, Anthony spent six years in Production Management and Underwriting where he assisted in closing over $15 billion in multifamily loans. Prior to joining Bellwether Enterprise, Anthony served in various roles at PGIM Real Estate Finance (formerly known as Prudential), Arbor Commercial Mortgage, PNC Real Estate, and PNC’s predecessor ARCS Commercial.
Throughout his career, Anthony has been passionate about workforce housing and the incredibly important purpose it serves. Outside of the office, Anthony is also committed to improving communities across Texas. He is actively engaged with Habitat for Humanity and spends time educating the commercial real estate industry about the importance and impact of Opportunity Zones and the many benefits of adding Social Impact amenities to lower income multifamily properties. Anthony is also on the board of directors for the nonprofit Veritas Impact Partners, which delivers social impact assistance in education, health, and household economic improvements in workforce housing communities.
In 2018 Anthony partnered with Fannie Mae and Comunidad Realty Partners to transform Villas Del Zocalo, a workforce housing community in Dallas, into a dynamic and desirable community without raising rents. Today the property offers after-school programs, health and wellness classes, and health and biometric screenings, and 100% of the units are affordable to families making 80% of the area median income.
